When you get close to the waterfalls, the breeze and spray can soak you in seconds. We recommend using waterproof cases to protect your phone and camera, especially at high-flow waterfalls like Palovit.

The Eastern Black Sea region is a true paradise of waterfalls thanks to its high annual rainfall and steep slopes. There are dozens of waterfalls in and around Rize, each with a different character.

Must-See Waterfalls

  • Palovit Waterfall: The highest flow rate waterfall in the region. Located in Kackar Mountains National Park, you will be mesmerized by the mist created by the waters falling from 15 meters.
  • Gelintulu Waterfall: The symbol of Ayder Plateau. Resembling a bride's veil (Gelin tülü), you can watch this waterfall from observation decks in the plateau center.
  • Tar Stream (Bulut) Waterfall: Located at the end of a pleasant and flat 2 km forest walk from Camlihemsin. It is one of the highest cascading waterfalls in Turkey.
  • Mencuna Waterfall: Located in the neighboring Arhavi district, this massive waterfall is worth seeing for its suspension bridges and tropical-like nature.
