Established at the foot of Mount Kemerli Kackar at an altitude of 2400 meters, Avusor Highland hosts the most authentic stone architecture of the region. Its stone houses, built half-buried in the ground against avalanche danger, are unique examples of harmony with nature.
Formerly known for its challenging road, the route from Ayder to Avusor has been completely paved with concrete. You can now drive up to the highland center comfortably and safely with any standard car, without needing a 4x4.
The real reward awaits you after reaching the village. A pleasant 45-minute hike takes you to the Avusor Glacial Lake, offering a mesmerizing turquoise view reflecting the mountains.
